Top Tried & Tested WordPress Plugins

WordPress is a great content management solution. One of the things that makes it truly brilliant is the number of plugins developed by individuals and companies that enable some pretty awesome functionality to be added incredibly quickly.

The only downside of WordPress plugins is it can take a lot of time to track down ones that do what you’d like them to do! Here’s a list of our top 10 WordPress plugins – in no particular order – hope it saves you some time. If there are any others you think should have made the list, let us know – we’d love to hear about them!

Duplicate Post

This plugin allows you to clone or duplicate any existing WordPress page or post. Simply put, it’s essential.

Theme My Login

A really helpful plugin for updating the look and feel of login, registration & forgotten password pages to match the overall design of your site.

UK Cookie Consent

A simple tool to help compliance with the UK interpretation of the EU regulations regarding usage of website cookies. Relatively unobtrusive, it can be positioned either at the top or bottom of your site. Users are able to simply agree to the use of cookies and dismiss or click through to a pre-populated page giving more information. It’s important to note that this is only compliant on a very loose basis and you should get legal advice on making sure your site is compliant.

s2Member® Framework

This is a pretty serious plugin as the name suggest and as the name suggests, is indeed more of a framework. I’ve only used their free version but it’s proved to be a successful tool for modifying and adding to user registration and profile fields beyond WordPress defaults. If your managing paid users subscriptions their paid version would be worth checking out.

Ambrosite Next/Previous Post Link Plus

A brilliant plugin for extending next and previous post link functionality, giving you full control of which posts you do and don’t link to.

A big thanks to all those involved in creating these plugins (and all the other great ones out there) – amazing work – we appreciate it!
